Lakeridge Falls In Back-And-Forth Affair Against Newberg
Lakeridge and Newberg passed the lead back-and-forth on Tuesday, but eventually Newberg prevailed 10-7. The game was tied at seven with Newberg batting in the bottom of the fourth when Trout doubled off of Cooper Justice, driving in one run.
Despite the loss, Lakeridge did collect nine hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Newberg had 12 hits on the way to victory.
Newberg captured the lead in the first inning. With zero outs in the first inning Tarakhchyan drove in one run when he singled.
After Lakeridge scored one run in the top of the second, Newberg answered with one of their own. Lakeridge scored when there was an error, scoring one run. Newberg then answered when Maiben singled off of Cooper Justice, driving in one run.
Newberg took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Tarakhchyan singled off of Justice, driving in one run.
Cervantes earned the win for Newberg. He went three innings, surrendering zero runs, two hits, and striking out two. Josh Robins took the loss for Lakeridge. He pitched one-third of an inning, giving up five runs, and three hits.
Trout started the game for Newberg. He threw four innings, surrendering seven runs, seven hits, and striking out two.
Everest Webster and Beau Bryant each collected multiple hits for Lakeridge. Bryant and Webster each managed two hits to lead Lakeridge.
Maiben, Maiben, Tarakhchyan, and Trout each collected multiple hits for Newberg. Maiben went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Newberg in hits.
