Lakeridge Falls In Back-And-Forth Affair Against Newberg
Lakeridge Pacers and Newberg played a tight game, but Newberg pulled out the 14-7 victory on Wednesday. The game was tied at three with Newberg batting in the top of the third when Reohr tripled off of Tommy Andrew, driving in one run.
Despite the loss, Lakeridge did collect 15 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Newberg had 18 hits on the way to victory.
Newberg captured the lead in the first inning. Laroche singled on a 1-2 count in the first inning, scoring one run.
After Newberg scored one run in the top of the fourth, Lakeridge answered with one of their own. Newberg scored when Chris Simons uncorked a wild pitch, scoring one run. Lakeridge then answered when there was an error, scoring one run.
Newberg took the lead for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Maiben tripled off of Tommy Andrew, driving in one run, Andrew uncorked a wild pitch, scoring one run, Cervantes singled off of Simons, driving in one run, and Simons induced Maiben to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
Stigall earned the win for Newberg. He pitched three innings, giving up four runs, eight hits, striking out two, and walking zero. Maiben threw three innings, as two relievers helped Newberg finish off the victory. Andrew took the loss for Lakeridge Pacers Varsity. He tossed two innings, giving up six runs, eight hits, striking out two, and walking one.
Everest Webster, Brendon Sloan, Beau Bryant, Cal Seneker, and Colin Hardy each collected multiple hits for Lakeridge Pacers Varsity. Webster went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Lakeridge in hits.
Maiben, Reohr, Maiben, Takahashi, Laroche, Hirte, and Trout each collected multiple hits for Newberg.
